Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) and INFLIBNET Centre in its endeavour to reach out to the unreached have collaborated for disseminating its information and e-resources through the use and application of ICT. CEC and the INFLIBNET Centre of UGC provide information support for education and research in colleges and universities through their services and facilities. While CEC concentrates on creation and dissemination of multimedia-based learning e-resources, the INFLIBNET specialises in textual-based information retrieval services through its union databases and by facilitating access to full-text and bibliographic e-resources through consortium arrangements. Both the organizations make intensive use of Internet, Web and other communication technology to develop and disseminate their services. While both the institutions work primarily for the same goal, albeit separately, there is a lot of scope for them to cooperate, coordinate and collaborate in the process of creation, development and dissemination of their resources and services. CEC in its collaborative endeavour with INFLIBNET would be soon providing the Bibliographical text based Databases of educational television video programmes, e-content and LOR’s produced by CEC and its Media Centres on INFLIBNET’s Server along with their Union Bibliographical Databases of books and e-resources. This will enable the Universities and Colleges who are already subscribers and members of INFLIBNET resources to also have access to the CEC Databases of video resources as a one stop destination of both print and non-print media resources. This way CEC will be able to disseminate information regarding the video programmes produced and reach out to the academic community and the masses of the society and empower them by providing information and knowledge. By such initiatives and collaborative ties both the institutions intends to reach out and empower the masses with information and knowledge and contribute in fulfilling its social obligation of capacity building of the nation and of making India into a knowledge society.
